IVF Delays Due To Coronavirus Concerns

The nationwide lockdown to fight against killer germ- coronavirus, have made lives difficult for everyone. The following restrictions have brought life to a standstill. However, somehow, we are sailing through these restrictions, but the situation is exceptionally exasperating for those who are opting for IVF treatments and facing unexplained delays.
Anyone dealing with infertility will understand that time is extremely precious in IVF treatments, and even the slightest of delay can lower the chances of conceiving. But, even the best IVF clinic in Thailand has shut their door, and the patients looking for IVF have been stuck in halfway house.
However, you can always keep yourself aware of IVF treatment costs in Thailand until this nationwide lockdown calls off.
All IVF cycles are postponed
The recommendations offered by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine have forced almost all women in North America to postpone their IVF appointments. When the clinics will reopen and when can they schedule their next appointment is still uncertain. Women who are in their late 30s and 40s are incredibly concerned and distressed.
The government considers them "essential equipment", but fertility treatments, which are equally crucial for childless couples, have been banned.
Some similar guidelines are being issued and followed in Canada, Europe, and the UK. All IVF clinics and treatments are suspended, and new cycles are canceled. Couples striving desperately to get pregnant are clueless about when they can resume the medications. However, you can always do your homework and remain updated about IVF cost in Thailand.
Why are IVF clinics and treatment banned?
The uncertainty of the effect of COVID-19, as well as the fatal effect of viral transmission, prompted various fertility groups to shut down the IVF clinics. When you need to visit an IVF clinic for quite a few following weeks, you interact with the clinic staff, nurses, doctors, and other technicians. That makes you vulnerable to the infection. Your chances of transmitting the virus also broaden.
On the other hand, when you are naturally trying pregnancy, you are having sex with only one person, and the risk of exposure is also limited to only one person. Moreover, you are also staying most of the time indoors in such cases.
That makes sense that an IFV clinic in Thailand is bound to remain closed. However, no restriction has been imposed until now on natural pregnancy.
Who are the worst hits?
IVF patients who are already under treatment and had their embryos frozen are not at a point of worry. They can opt for the embryo transfer process, a couple of months later when things become a little easy. That will not bring any significant impact on the outcome of the treatment.
Patients who are yet to begin their new cycle are worried that any delay will lessen their chance of having a successful IVF treatment. However, we hope that the situation will improve soon.
The worst-hit are the patients who are already underway the treatment. Some doctors have, however, completed the egg fertilization and ovum pick-up process before the lockdown. In other cases, the doctors had to discard the treatment halfway.
Last but not least
While the majority of the patients are disappointed due to the delay in their IFV treatments, others do understand that the clinics do not have any choice. If they had continued to function without following the restrictions, they would have put their staff and the patients at risk. It is difficult for the doctors, too, as they also have no clue when to start again.
